Besides being a fulltime mother, she enjoyed bowling at Richland Lanes with her daughter Melody. She loved to take walks and frequently took her children and grandchildren downtown to Schultz’s Dime Store. Her grandchildren have fond memories of spending a week each summer with their grandparents and taking walks to town over the bridge and visiting stores, friends and family in town.
Elaine also kept a journal since 2003 and wrote daily about what she did and the weather. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed romance novels the most. She has passed her love of reading down to many family members. Elaine also continued to watch, ‘The Young and the Restless,’ ever since her youngest daughter Pam turned her onto it in the 70’s. She will be remembered for her homemade noodles and potato salad. Her remarkable memory, she always knew everyone’s birthdays and other special dates.
Elaine will be missed by her four children, 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 16 great-great-grandchildren, sister, sister-in-law, her 90lb bulldog Penny, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, daughter Melody Smith, 4 sisters, and a half-brother.
