Harvey Martin, 73, died Monday evening at his Soldiers Grove home after an illness of several years.

Mr. Martin operated a meat and grocery store in Soldiers Grove for many years.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Soldiers Grove Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Thompson officiating, with burial in the Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening at the Chitwood Funeral Home.
Mr. Martin was born Sept. 30, 1885, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Calendar Martin. He and Effie Smith of Viola were married Sept. 1, 1920, in Prairie du Chien.

He is survived by his wife; six daughters, Mrs. Robert (Frances) Bennett, Soldiers Grove, Mrs. Keith (Darlene) Buroker and Mrs. Cecil (Betty) Long, both of Beloit, Mrs. Harold (Elaine) Lettman, Richland Center, Mrs. Clair (Alice) Johnson, Middleton, and Mrs. Earl (Gloria) Davis, living in Virginia; 21 grandchildren; and one brother, William Martin, Stewartsville, Minn.
