A daughter of the late Dr. George and Florence (McClarren) Ireland, she was born on May 16, 1931, in Tyler, Pa.

On April 12, 1953, she married Richard K. "Dick" Burke. He predeceased her on Oct. 26, 2008.

In addition to her parents and husband, Pam was preceded in death by a brother, Andre' Ireland and a sister, Sondra Dokan Parr, making her the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She lived her entire life in the Penfield Area and was a 1948 graduate of Huston Township High School. While in school, she had been a cheerleader, class president, and editor of the school newspaper.

Among the places she had worked during her lifetime were Stackpole Carbon Company of St. Marys, Ireland's Heating Center of Weedville and most recently, the U.S. Postal Service for 24 years. She had been Postmaster in Force, Pa., for 14 years before retiring in 2005.

Pam was a member of many clubs and organizations, including the American Legion Auxiliary of Post 978 in Weedville for 37 years. During that time, she had served as secretary, president, and president over 16 unit councils in Pa. She also belonged to the John Wanamaker Chapter of the Eastern Star. While employed by the U.S. Postal Service, she was a member and past president of local NAPUS and Postmasters League districts.

She was an avid reader and also enjoyed traveling, cooking, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards and spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly.

Pam was Methodist by faith.
