Mrs. Cena Ellen Smith, age 86, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017 in McGregor, Texas. Funeral service will be Thursday, November 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Cole Funeral Home. Interment will follow in McGregor Cemetery with Reverend Chris Foster officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, at the funeral home.

Cena was born March 28, 1931 to Ernest P. and Clora (Woodall) Gober in Gatesville, Texas. She was a longtime resident of McGregor. Cena married the love of her life, Jesse C. Smith on Oct. 21, 1947 in Waco, Texas. They celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Mrs. Smith worked as a cook for McGregor ISD for 18 ½ years and retiring in 1995. She also worked as a line worker for Smead Manufacturing. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday school for 10 years. She enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse Clifford Smith; 8 sisters and 4 brothers.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Foster and husband, Jim of Rockdale; Clifford Smith and wife, Darlene of McGregor; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
