Emma Luvenia Brown, born 1890, was the daughter of David Harrison Brown and Paulina Louisa Sweatt. She had a sister, Maria, and a brother, Fred. Her father died when she was only 8 years old, and her widowed grandfather, John Dennis Sweatt, stepped in to help her mother rear her family and run the farm.

She married Elsworth Bradley at age 30 and had four sons and two daughters -- Virginia, Richard, Norman, David, Margaret, and Lawrence. They were married for 63 years.

Emma's children and grandchildren remember her as a warm, caring person and a wonderful Christian lady who had great faith in God. She loved to grow flowers in her yard and was an accomplished musician who loved to play on her old pump organ as well as a hammer dulcimer and a fiddle.

Emma died at age 92 on February 9, 1983 and is buried at High Point Cemetery.
