At a tender, young age, Helen moved with her family from Montana to Clarkston, where she graduated from Clarkston High School in 1947. Helen worked at McMonigle Chevrolet from 1948 to 1949, and then First Security Bank as an executive secretary from 1949 to retirement. After retirement, she often was asked to help out at the bank, where she found her true calling as a teller. She loved people.
After the war, Helen met the love of her life, Lewis Eugene Berlinghoff, otherwise known as "Bud." They were married 66 years and had three children: Debra, Bobby and Tamara. Helen was a member of the First Christian Church and PEO.
Helen was an wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to cook, play bridge and volunteer for the Tri-State Memorial Blue Angels. There she found her calling by volunteering and scheduling. You could often find her in medical records, day and outpatient surgery, or helping out in the gift shop.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Bud; her father and mother; two brothers, Joseph and Robert; and grandson Bobby.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Merchant Funeral Home in Clarkston.
