He died sometime before 24 Aug 1790. He was married to Amey Rivers, they had 13 children. He was commissioned a lieutenant in the North Carolina Militia in 1765 and again in 1779, although he apparently did not serve in the Revolutionary War. He served on various juries and grand juries and was active in local and state politics.
