RECENT DEATHS.
Stevens
Foster G. Stevens died of pneumonia at his home March 29.
Mr. Stevens was born in St. Johnsbury, June 13. 1847, the son of John A. and Mary Downing Stevens. He was educated in the public schools, and later went into the printing business in Chicago and afterwards in St. Johnsbury. On December 18, 1873, he married Miss Julia V. Mitchell.
For many years Mr. Stevens had a tailor shop here. He is survived by his wife, two daughters. Miss Anna M. Stevens, and Nellie. Mrs. Fred S. Woods, five grandchildren, and one sister. Mary, Mrs. C. H. Smith of Los Angeles, Cal. He was for many years a member of the First Baptist Church here, and afterwards united with the Baptist Church of Passumpsic. The funeral services were held at the first Baptist church, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. F. S. Tolman officiating. Mr. Stevens was an old soldier, having enlisted as a recruit in Company A, 11th, Vermont Regiment in 1863. He was taken prisoner and was in Andersonville prison for five months. He was mustered out of service in 1865.
