Juanita R. Cooney

Juanita Rae Cooney, age 66 of Stockton, California, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 after a brief struggle with cancer. She was born to the late Alfredo Yanez Sr. and Guadalupe Tambunga Yanez on August 20, 1951, in Greely, Colorado.
Juanita grew up, the fourth child of thirteen, working the fields of San Joaquin County. She later attended Stagg High School for one year, and graduated from Linden High School.
In 1968, while working at Cooney Produce, she met the love of her life, Robert W. Cooney. They married in October of 1972, and spent the next 45 years as Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Juanita Cooney. In 1980, they welcomed their first and only child, Cathleen M. Cooney
Juanita was natural born caretaker. She spent her childhood years helping her mother and father care for her younger siblings, and when their children were born; she happily helped out with their upbringing. She had five, truly loved God children: Juanita Bonnie Figueroa, Camelia Unique Miller, Sexing Bernadet Gutierrez, Rafael Valasquez Jr., and Lucero Yanez.
Her immense love for the elderly community, led her to Plymouth Square Retirement home and Rio Las Palmas, where she worked and loved for the next 37 years.
Juanita is survived by her husband, Robert W. Cooney, her daughter, Cathleen M. Cooney, her siblings: Alfredo Yanez Jr. of Stockton, Ampora Yanez of Sacramento, Thomas Yanez of Reno, Rosie Gardea of Las Vegas, Maria Yanez of Las Vegas, Lupe Gonzalez of Reno, Alberto Yanez of Stockton, Victoria Yanez of Sacramento, and Antonio Yanez of Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Alfredo Yanez Sr., and her three brothers, Sotero Yanez, of Texas, Jesus Yanez of Las Vegas, and Decidiero Yanez, of Stockton.
The viewing will be held at De Young Shoreline Chapel at 7676 Shoreline Drive in Stockton, California, 95219, on Monday, November 6, 2017 between the hours of 8:00a.m. and 5:00p.m. Services will be held the following day, Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 9:30a.m., also at De Young Shoreline Chapel.
