Alabama on Mar. 17, 1886, she was the daughter of Carrie Dixon and Tenant Hamilton. She moved to St. Francis County, with her family, in 1892, and lived for many years at Newcastle, before moving to Forrest City, 16 years ago. A member of Forrest Chapel Methodist Church, Newcastle, she resided at 1045 N. Izard Street. She married Stephen A.Devereux, nearly 60 years ago. One son, S.A. Devereux, died during World War II, and her husband died, in 1939. Survivors include two sons: Hugh Devereux of Forrest City, and Arthur Louie Devereux of Widener; four daughters: Mrs. Small Morgan of Round Pond, Mrs. Vete Armstrong, Mrs. Edward Harris, and Mrs. Dewitt Smith, all of Forrest City; two sisters: Mrs. Annie Allen of Forrest City, and Mrs. Mae England of Los Angeles, California; 11 grandchildren, and a great grandchild.
