Frances Mae Devereux Harris

Mrs. Frances Mae Devereux Harris, age 90, of Forrest City, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, at Crestpark Retirement Inn in Forrest City. Mrs. Harris was born Feb. 18, 1916, in the Newcastle Community, the daughter of Stephen Alfred Devereux and Hugh Ella Hamilton Devereux. She lived in St. Francis County for most of her life, was a food supervisor for the Forrest City School District, an honorary member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Home Extension Club, Musical Coterie and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Harris married Edward Rush Harris Sr. in 1934, and he preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by a son, James Stephen Harris and a daughter, Frances Ann Harris. She is survived by a son, Edward Rush Harris Jr., of Forrest City; a daughter, Harriette Jordan Adams of Jonesboro; a brother, Arthur Louie Devereux of Forrest City; one sister, Elizabeth Smith of Forrest City; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation for Mrs. Harris will be held Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hughes Cemetery.
