Rhonda Thomasson Penny, 63, of Zebulon completed her battle with cancer on September 11th.
She never lost that infamous sense of humor we all know and love. She was well loved and a great friend to many. She loved the ‘homestead’ always offering a ride on the golf cart to take the grand tour or to cast a rod in the lake to “show Melvin how to catch a big one.”
Rhonda adored her husband of 23 years, Melvin, and daughter Lisa….who has always been her pride and joy. She loved the beach, Duke Football, traveling, beach music, concerts and cruising.
Rhonda worked at Wake Med as a Medical Reimbursement Specialist for the past 18 years. She was known as the ‘Cake Lady’ creating special cakes for friends and co-workers.
She will be truly missed by everyone, but we can rejoice in knowing that she is fully whole again in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Rhonda is survived by her husband, Melvin Penny, his sons Larry, Jamie and Brett (sons: Aidan, Austin and Alex) Her daughter Lisa Glover (David) and step-granddaughters (Candyce and Jaymie) Her brother Randy Thomasson (Judy), sister Renea Hunnings (Robert), numerous nieces and nephews and greats! She is predeceased by her mother and father, Hazel and Beanie Thomasson. She loved and cherished her granddaughters Lynzie, Savannah, Sydney, Summer, Candyce and Jaymie very dearly.
Funeral service 2 pm, Thursday, Strickland Funeral Home Chapel, 211 W. Third St., Wendell with Visitation 12:30 – 2 pm, prior to the service. The family will welcome visitors at other times at the home. Interment will be at the family grave plot at the homestead.
