David E. Dirks, age 66, of Kenosha (formerly of Howards Grove) passed away after a battle with cancer in his home on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.
David was born January 4, 1951 to Violet E. (Mog) Raquet and the late Lester E. Dirks. David graduated from Howards Grove High School in 1969. He then went on to the Milwaukee School of Engineering where he graduated in 1973. After graduation, his career took him to Pennsylvania, Des Moines, Iowa, and then to Kenosha where he retired from MacWhyte Company.
David had a passion for repairing and building models trains. This love was shared in the Tri-County Model Railroad Club in which he was the treasurer. He had a love for dogs and playing the game of sheepshead. David was an avid bowler and reader.
David is survived by his mother, Violet Raquet, Sheboygan Falls; his three brothers: Allen (Connie) Dirks, Howards Grove; Kevin (Kris) Dirks, Howards Grove; Keith (Stephanie) Dirks, Platteville; his nieces and nephews: Jennifer Olson, Jody (Josh Neubauer) Dirks, Bradley (Courtney) Dirks, Stephanie (Chimaobi) Mbanosa and Jamie (Kevin) Weidemann. He is further survived by nine great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
David was preceded in death by his father Lester.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Bethel UCC (W4225 County Line Rd. Elkhart Lake “Town of Herman”) with Rev. Jim Klein officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
