JAMES L. BRANDON OF MELROSE DIES
Funeral services were held this morning for James Lyle Brandon, 56, retired Monroe County farmer, who died Tuesday at his home. Services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Melrose with the Rev. Eugene Hoenig officiating and burial following in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Brandon was a lifelong resident of the Melrose area. He was born Feb. 14, 1911 to Thomas T. and Mary Curran Brandon.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Carbin Brandon; three daughters, Bernice and Patty at home, and Mrs. Colleen Ott of Des Moines; three sons, Thomas J. of Oak Park, Ill., Martin of Des Moines, and George at home; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Glenn Hoffman of Melrose; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Burke of Des Moines and Mrs. Eva Elgin of Ottumwa.
