Ken passed away in Pomona, CA on May 17, 2001 at the age of 69. He was born in Lehi, Utah on July 26, 1931 to parents Howard and Tressa Ricks. He was a graduate of East High School in Salt Lake City, and after graduating, worked as a Sales Manager for Ricks Furnace Company.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, then lived in Utah until 1964 when he moved to Las Vegas for a short time, then to California. He worked as a District Manager for Firestone Tire, and went on to own and operate LaVerne Tire Services for 18 years. He was an active member of the Rotary Club in La Verne during that time, and maintained a strong sense of community in La Verne, the city he called home. Ken was a sports and dance enthusiast, an avid golfer, and loved a good laugh. His life touched many, and his recent marriage to Loretta "Charly" brought him great joy.
His legacy lives on through his children, Cheryl Rae Bublitz of San Anselmo, CA; Kenneth Robert Ricks and wife Jackie of Redlands, CA; Douglas Arnold Ricks of Bloomington, CA; Christine Leone Weldon and husband Jeffrey of Clovis, CA; Jana D. Jordan and husband Timothy of Hesperia; and grandchildren Miranda Leigh Weldon of Clovis; Joshua Thomas Collins and Timothy Leslie Jordan Jr. of Hesperia; and Lauryn Irene Ricks of Redlands. "We love you much and you will be missed dearly."
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2001 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Forest Lawn Covina Hills Memorial Park.
