He was born August 30, 1930 in Creekmore, Kentucky to the late Walter Baird and Fronia (Ramsey) Baird. In addition to his parents, Emery is preceded in death by his brothers, Elmer, Estil, Leamon, and Freeman Baird; and sisters, Elizabeth Kangas, Edlene King, Sue Carol Baird, and Nina Stephens.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Wilson Baird, whom he married on August 4, 1951; sons, Jefferey Baird and wife, Sharon, of Pine Knot, and Dennis Baird and wife, Kathy, of Oneida, Tennessee; daughter, Kathy Baird and husband, Steven, of Stearns; sisters, Marie Ross and husband, Charles, of Revelo, Kentucky, Betty Craft of Louisville, Mary Magdalene Kenirem of Pine Knot, and Sally Baird of Marshes Siding; grandchildren, James David King II, Joseph Shane King, Heather Lynn Laebanion, Mykel Baird, Rusty Baird, and Paula Holland; and a host of great, great-great, and great-great-great-grandchildren.
Emery was a long time Deacon of the Hayes Creek Church of God. He spent his working life as a Coal Truck Driver. Emery was known for being a hard worker and enjoyed working around his home and gardening. He was proud of his tomatoes and his tractor, but most of all, his family.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Hayes Creek Church of God with Rev. Jerry Yancey and Bro. Ronnie Wilson officiating. Burial to follow in the Hayes Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday after 11:00 am until time for services at the church.
