Police Arrest Five Bad Boys

Chief Allison arrested five boys who make a practice of loitering on the corner of Fifth street and Carolina avenue last evening. After giving each one a severe lecture he dismissed them with the understanding that a repetition of the loitering would result in a heavy fine.

Harold Fredericks Arrested For Stealing Milk

Chief of Police John Allison arrested a young man at 1:30 this afternoon giving his name as John Roberts, claiming to reside in East End, East Liverpool, on a charge of having stolen a bottle of milk from a residence in the mill edition. He was arraigned before Mayor Pyle, who imposed a fine of $10 and costs. The youth would give no reason for the theft. After investigation by the police it was found that the prisoner's name was Harold Fredericks and that he resided on Third street, East Liverpool. The prisoner had no money with which to pay his fine and was locked up in the local jail awaiting the arrival of East Liverpool friends with the requisite cast to procure his release.

Police Chief's Son Bitten By Dog

Chester, W. Va., Aug. 25 -- Louis Allison, the small son of Chief of Police Allison, was bitten on the right leg by a dog yesterday afternoon. The animal is owned by a resident on Carolina avenue. The boy was attacked while passing along the street with some companions.

Former Prisoner Who Escaped Will Return Handcuffed

Chester, W. Va., August 28 -- Kinsey Talbot, who ran away with Chief of Police John Allison's new handcuffs a week ago, has promised to return them. Yesterday Allison came to East Liverpool and met Talbot. He admitted having them and said he would return them to the chief some time this week. Talbot was found in a bootleg joint during a recent raid and Allison put the handcuffs on him for safe keeping. However, he escaped and took the wrist ornaments with him and that was the last the chief ever saw them.

Former Police Head Claimed At Chester

Funeral For John E. Allison Will Be Held Saturday

John E. Allison, 71, former police chief in Chester, died Wednesday at 10 p.m. in City hospital following a long illness. Mr. Allison was police chief about 35 years ago during the administrations of Dr. J. L. Pyle and George Hasson, mayors. After resigning from office, he moved to the Asbury chapel district where he engaged in farming until last October when he returned to Chester to make his home with his son, Lewis Allison, on Third st. He was born in the Asbury chapel district where he spent most of his lifetime. Besides his son, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Ethel McBee of Chester, and five grandchildren. His wife, Ida May Allison, died last September. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Arner funeral home in Chester by Rev. J. Ray Thompson, pastor of the First Methodist church. Burial will be in Locust Hill cemetery. Friends may call tonight and Friday at the funeral home.
