LaVonne F. Tonsfeldt, 91, of Remsen, died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at Happy Siesta Health Center in Remsen.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Remsen, with the Pastor Alan Cummins officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen Community Cemetery in Remsen. Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017 with family present from 5-7 p.m., all at the church in Remsen. Visitation will resume Wednesday from 9 a.m., until service time at the church. Condolences may be sent online to www.fischfh.com.

LaVonne was born Jan. 31, 1926, at rural Remsen, the daughter of Clarence and Irma (Hanno) Haack. She was raised on a farm near Remsen, IA and attended LeMars Community High School, graduating in 1944. She then taught country school for one year.

On June 2, 1946 she married Clifford Tonsfeldt at Remsen, IA. The couple stayed in the Remsen area where they farmed. The couple moved into Remsen in 1990.

LaVonne was a member of St. Paul Lutheran and St. Paul WELCA.

Survivors include her husband Clifford of Remsen, three sons, Denis (Michele) of Waukesha, WI, Steven (Amy) of Remsen, David (Lori) of Fairfax, IA; 9 grandchildren, Scott, Michael, & Evan Tonsfeldt, Jenny (Larry) Robins, Erik (Lindsey) Tonsfeldt & Anna Tonsfeldt , Jill (Scott) Anderson, Sara (Jason) Olmstead, Kate Tonsfeldt; 8 great-grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, Movylene Haack of Remsen, Connie Haack of Marcus, IA, Dee Mulder of Spirit Lake, IA and Joyce Mercer of Fonda, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Milton and Larry Haack.

Casket bearers will be grandchildren and other family members.
