She was born in Hillsboro on April 11, 1941, the daughter of the late Elmer and Vada (Brown) Helterbrand. Besides her parents she was also preceded by her husband, David Lee Burns on October 29, 2006, two brothers, Bill and Gene Helterbrand and two sisters, Midge Turner and Gloria Ford.
Phyllis volunteered her time with the Domestic Violence Programs.
Phyllis is survived by her four sons, one daughter of Hillsboro, a sister of Arkansas, several grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday September 3, 2017 at the Thompson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Saturday September 2, 2017 at the Thompson Funeral Home.
