Born in Newark, NJ, she lived in East Hartland for many years. Before her retirement, she was an English teacher and librarian. Margaret was an avid reader and loved working at the Cossitt Library in North Granby for many years. She had a great love for animals; her favorite was the wolf. Margaret loved her cats dearly and cherished her time with them. She had a passion for the environment and talked about writing a book about global warming and how to protect our environment. She was an amazing artist and used to sell her artwork at Saks 5th Avenue.
She leaves a niece, Ellen King of Virginia; her caretaker and beloved friend Clyde St. Amand and his wife Shari St. Amand; friends Bobbie and Bruce Sullivan, and close to her heart Lili and Evan St. Amand who were like grandchildren to her.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at the East Hartland Cemetery in East Hartland Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Margaret's honor to the Friends of Cossitt Library, P.O Box 98, North Granby, CT 06060, Mary's Kitty Korner, Inc., an area shelter for homeless pets, P.O Box 418, Pleasant Valley, CT 06063, or Bandit's Place, Inc., an animal rescue, 70 Granville Rd., East Hartland, CT 06027.
