Walter Edward Oeschger, born October 5, 1911, was received into the arms of our Lord on December 2, 2004. He was born on his beloved ranch to Joseph and Marie Oeschger.
Walter was the youngest of six children; brothers, Joseph, Vernon, George; sisters, Ida and Clara all preceded him in death.
Walter graduated from Ferndale High School in 1929. He attended St. Mary’s College, but came back to Ferndale to take care of the Oeschger Ranch. Walter met and married Olivia Petersen of Beatrice in 1940. He was blessed with the birth of his only child Sylvia Oeschger. Walter was always an active community member. The many organizations he was involved in included past president of the Lion’s Club, past president of Native Sons of the Golden West, former board member at Ferndale High School, past president of The Farm Bureau and past president of the Ferndale Senior Citizens. Walter had a love of the land and enjoyed many hours hunting and fishing. All who knew Walter will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Olivia, and daughter, Sylvia, both of Ferndale; as well as several nieces, nephews and other family members.

Friends may visit at the Assumption Catholic Church, 546 Berding in Ferndale on Thursday, December 9, 2004, from 3 pm until the Rosary at 7 pm.
The Funeral Mass will be at the Assumption Catholic Church on Friday, December 10, 2004, at 11 am with Fr. Robert Benjamin, Celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ferndale with casket bearers being Pat McKay, Sr., Pat McKay, Jr., Dennis Del Biaggio, Art Townsend, John Petersen III and Mike Etter, Jerry Miller, Terry Spandle and Chris Spandle.
Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Mortuary Chapel, Eureka.
