John Alex "John Daddy" Biggers was born to Millie White Biggers and Eugenia Sue Allen on May 30, 1928 in Fort Worth, Texas.

During the great depression (mid-1930's) John's boyhood family moved to Piedmont, Texas near Navasota where John learned the "farm life", and was tutored by his grandmother. Subsequently, they moved to Fort Worth where John graduated from Fort Worth Polytechnic High School. After graduation, John immediately enlisted in the Navy. He enlisted in the Navy and trained as a fighter pilot at Pensacola Florida from 1945 to 1946 as the U.S. military reduced forces following WWII. During his Navy time, John entered Navy sponsored college at Baylor University, Texas Weslayan, and completed his Bachelor of Science at University of Houston.

He joined the Boy Scouts of America as a Professional Boy Scouts Executive for Houston, Texas where he met the love of his life, Esther Marjorie Hall. They were married in 1950 and had four children, and resided in Lake Jackson, Texas for 61 years.

John worked for 34 years as a safety engineer in the chemical industry for Dow Chemical. He was influential in developing Dow's process safety program. He helped develop many of Dow's safety programs such as the "Life is Fragile, Handle with Care" program, which established safety awareness as a way of life at Dow. He served on the Texas Chemical Council and worked at both the state and federal levels to bring about sensible but safe regulations for the chemical industry.

Outside of Dow Chemical, John exercised a strong Christian faith as exemplified through activities as Sunday School teaching, attending church activities, and witnessing for Christ.

One of John's real passions was raising cattle with his son John Jr. They ran a cattle operation on the family ranch in Pennington, Texas near Crockett (which will be carried on by his son John Jr). Another interest John enjoyed was traveling with his wife Esther Marjorie (also known as Sunny Honey the Clown). John and his wife traveled to "dig bones" which is researching ancestral history.

John Biggers is preceded in death by his spouse Esther Marjorie (deceased in 2015); a son Horace Edwin (deceased in 2013); sisters Milliegene Davis, Francis Dedman, Jackie Smith, and a brother M. W. (Bud) Biggers. dignitymemorial.com
