Elmer Albert Entrop, 82, passed away peacefully at his home on March 6, 2021.

Elmer was the ninth born on November 6, 1938. Elmer spent his childhood in Westphalia and attended school there. As a young boy, he served as an altar boy in the church and later sang in the church choir. Elmer graduated with honors as class salutatorian from Lott High School in 1956. He worked for a short time as bookkeeper for the Lott Lumber Company and the Doskocil Cotton Gin in Westphalia. He served in the United States National Guard and was called to active duty in 1961 at Fort Polk, LA during the Berlin Airlift/Cuban Missile Crisis.

On August 31, 1963 Elmer married Betty Randolph Bryant of Temple. They moved to Austin TX where Elmer worked for the Texas Employment Commission. They had three children, Lori Lynn in 1965, Lisa Leigh in 1968, and Scott Albert in 1974.

Elmer enjoyed bowling in his spare time, and in 1976 his bowling team won the National Championship. Elmer retired from his job in 1993, and his time was occupied with bowling activities, German club socials, lots of trips to Las Vegas and Germany, gardening, various cruises, and crossword puzzles. He looked for any excuse to throw a party and found anything and everything to be celebration worthy.

We will celebrate his life at a later time when everyone can safely attend. In lieu of flowers please visit SpecialOlympics.org and make a contribution in his name, as this organization was very dear to his heart just as his side kick, Scott was.

Until he sees you again, he bids you Prost!
