George Allen Barkhoff, 87, of Cedar Falls died Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Western Home Communities Martin Center.

He was born September 26, 1929 in Grundy County, Iowa, son of Enno and Anna (Lupkes) Barkhoff.

He married Wilma Bergman on November 19, 1954 in Stout, Iowa.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a welder for Clay Equipment for 45 years, retiring in 1983. He then co-owned and operated G and G Industries.

He was a founding member of Orchard Hill Church in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: his wife of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Teri Elliott of Waukee and Lori (Leonard) Fevold of Oxford; a son, Jeff (Heidi) Barkhoff of North Liberty; five grandchildren, Matt Elliott, Courtney Carter, Scott Elliott, Rogan Barkhoff, and Reily Rachkouska; six great grandchildren; a brother, Archie (Lavonne) Barkhoff of Waverly; and a sister, Elsie Vold of Wenatchee, WA.

Preceded in death by: four brothers, Fred, Louis, Bennie and Paul Barkhoff; and three sisters, Annie Broeken, Christine Beck, and Helen Shelton.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Orchard Hill Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Richardson Funeral Service and also for one hour prior to the service at the church. Full Military honors provided by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post#49 and Iowa Army National Guard.

Memorials may be directed to the family for designation at a later date.
