Cecile Young was born August 3, 1910 in Colonia Dublan, Chihuahua, Mexico to William Harrison Young Sr. and Effie Mae Butler Young. Her mother left Mexico in July 1912 with Cecile and her older sister, Thora Young when the revolution there made it unsafe to remain. They traveled by train and were given shelter in a lumberyard in El Paso, Texas. They later traveled to Payson, Utah, where a sister was born - Odeen Young. After returning to Mexico in an effort to reclaim their home and property there, the family had to leave again, settling in the small community of Binghampton, near Tucson, Arizona. Cecile grew up there - met and married her future husband, Charles Edward Haller on July 13, 1932. They were the parents of five children. In later years, Cecile, known affectionately as "Aunt Pete" to her nieces and nephews, lived in Safford, Arizona with her oldest daughter and family. In June of 1979, Cecile was killed in a tragic car accident on the freeway at the Bowie Junction in Cochise County. They were returning home to Safford, Arizona after a pleasure trip to Mexico. Her grandson, Charles "Chip" Porter, was also killed in this accident with a semi-truck. Four others in the van they were all riding in died in this tragedy. Cecile is buried in the Binghampton Cemetery in Tucson, Arizona and shares a headstone with her grandson Chip.
