Margaret Imogene, daughter of R. J. and Margaret J. Lawhead, was born August 13, 1874, near Monmouth, IL., and died March 9, 1918 at her home in Fowler, CA. While she was still a girl her father removed with his family to Mount Ayr. Mrs. Nichol grew from her girlhood to womanhood in this city, attending the public schools and being active in the work of the United Presbyterian Church, first in the Sabbath school and young people's society, and afterwards as a member, confessing faith in the Lord Jesus.
On September 14, 1897, she became the wife of William G. Nichol. After a few years Mr. and Mrs. Nichol went to California and soon found a home near the city of Fowler. Here Mrs. Nichol as far as her health permitted, maintained her great interest in the church. There is not only the memory of those of us here who knew her youth, but the witness of those with whom she lived her last years, that she kept the faith, endured patiently, and entered with joy into the presence of her Lord.
Mrs. Nichol is survived by her husband, one sister and four brothers. Mrs. Belle Buchanan, Welda, KS.; D.E. Lawhead, St. Joseph, MO.; W.E. Lawhead, Burlington, IA., J.E. Lawhead, Union Star, MO.; and R. A. Lawhead, Lingle, WY.
The funeral was held Sabbath, March 24, from the United Presbyterian Church and interment was made at the family plot in Rose Hill Cemetery.
