Mormon Pioneer Overland Travel Record. Eliza is listed on the Passenger List of the Ship Thornton with her father and mother, and siblings Hyrum, Mary, Phoebe, and William. The family departed Florence, Nebraska, 14 June 1940. The Thornton's arrived in Deseret, Utah, 3 September 1860, with the James Darling Ross Company.

Death. Eliza died at the age 31 from pneumonia contracted during childbirth. David was born 1 month before in a massive snowstorm, and Eliza only had a midwife to help with the delivery. Oxford, where Eliza passed, is now a city in Franklin, County, Idaho.
