Theresa was born September 25, 1934. She was #7 of 16 children born to John and Isabelle (Taylor) Baker of Old Town, Maine. She attended school in Old Town and later worked in a shoe factory before meeting Jim, who was stationed there in the Air Force. They were married in 1955 in Old Town, then returned to Watertown (Jim's hometown), where she made her home until her passing.
Theresa did in-home daycare while her children were young, and later worked for local factories, sewing coats, lawnmower bags and portable ice shacks.
Jim & Theresa loved to fish and take road trips to visit family and friends. In their later years together, where you saw one, you saw the other. Holidays were always special for her family.
Theresa was a wonderful cook and baker. She had thriving outdoor plants with Hydrangeas as large as her head. She tilled her own garden and did her own lawn care. She was an avid quilter, providing quilts for her family and friends, as well as donating lap blankets to nursing care facilities and newborns. She also loved putting puzzles together.
Theresa is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Rasmussen and Julie (Doug) Block of Watertown, SD; six grandchildren, Kathi (Travis) Brandt, Sartell, MN, Kristi (Mitch) Fehr, Rogers, AR, Shawn Rasmussen, Watertown, SD, Jennifer Jones, Maria Block, Spring, TX and Jon Block (Bryttni Kasuske), Watertown, SD; Great-grandchildren include Sam and Ben Brandt, Frances, Delaney and Micah Fehr; sisters, Rose Bishop, Leona Gagnier, Ruth Grindle and Joan Knuti; brother, David Baker.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, James (Jim) Algard; infant daughter, Carol Jean Algard; parents, John and Isabelle Baker; sisters, Helen Varney, Marion Carrier, Lillian Kafka, Rita Jalonskey and Mary Blair; brothers, John (Buster) Baker, Patrick Baker, Thomas (Richard) Baker, Charles Baker and Joseph Baker.
