VEAZIE and OLD TOWN – Mary Amelia (Baker) Blair, 83, passed away at a Bangor hospital, June 26, 2022, after a period of declining health. Mary was born one of 16 children to John and Isabelle (Taylor) Baker.

Mary grew up in Old Town, Maine where she met and married Gerald Blair and they started raising a family together. Gerald sadly passed away in December of 1989, at which point Mary focused on raising their three children. Mary was devoted to her children, loving and supporting them well into their adult years.

Mary was a talented painter and writer. She had a real gift for interior decorating and design. Mary could pick up any discarded item and transform it into a work of art. Many loved ones display her paintings in their home.

In her own home, Mary welcomed all of her children's friends with open arms. Everyone was loved and accepted in her eyes. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved listening to people's stories and experiences, a trait that made everyone gravitate towards her. While Mary loved many things, it was evident that her favorite thing in the world was spending time with her children and her grandchildren she nicknamed her "Little Angels."

Mary is survived by her children, Beth Chapman and husband Ken, Keith Blair, and Jennifer Smart and husband Dave; her beloved grandchildren, Alex and Will Chapman, and Shayne and Leah Smart; her siblings, Theresa Algard, Rose Bishop, Leona Gagnier, Ruth Ann Grindle, Joan Knuti, Joseph Baker and David Baker; brother-in-law Ronald Blair, sister-in-law Esther Ryan, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband of 27 years, Gerald Blair; her siblings, Helen Varney, John (Buster) Baker, Patrick Baker, Richard Baker, Marion Carrier, Lillian Kafka, Charles Baker, and Mary's best friend and sister, Rita Jalonski, husband John and Michelle. Sisters-in-law Dorothy Foster, Virginia Paradis and brothers-in-law Robert Blair and Wallace Blair.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, July 11, 2022 at Parish of the Resurrection, Holy Family Catholic Church, with Rev. Kyle Doustou, celebrant. Graveside services will be private for family at Lawndale Cemetery following the Mass. A celebration of life gathering will follow at the Parish Hall after the burial.

Special thank you to Keith Blair for his steadfast care of our mother during her final year of life.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Mary in a special way may make gifts in her memory to a charity of their choice.
