Curtis “Curt” E. Hameister, age 73, of Rochester, died on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital – St. Marys Campus in Rochester.

A private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the National Kidney Foundation.

Curtis Edward Hameister was born on April 18, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, his parents were Carl and Edna Hameister. He graduated from John Marshall High school 1963.

On December 29, 1964, he married Virginia Means in Rochester.

Curt worked as a meat cutter and later as a market manager for Red Owl Food Stores from 1962-1983 and was an antique dealer for many years.

He enjoyed attending auctions, cooking, canning, spending time with and entertaining family.

Curt is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” of Rochester; sons, Kevin Hameister of Rochester, Dan (Amy) Hameister of Byron and Tim (Kim) Hameister of St. Charles; three granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; brothers, David (Carol) Hameister and Bruce Hameister both of Rochester; sisters, Julie (Jason) Hagedorn of Lake City and Linda Hameister of Rochester; many nieces and nephews.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dewayne Schneckloth, Dennis Hameister and Doug Hameister.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Dialysis Team at the Methodist - Eisenberg Building and also to the many doctors and nurses at the Mayo Clinic.
