Mr. Delbert Barnett Dixon, 80, died July 23, 2005, at Kings Mountain Hospital.

Born in Cleveland County, he was the son of Rev. Kelly Dixon and Blanche Patterson Dixon.

He was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 55 years, where he sang in the Chancel Choir and was a member of the Methodist Men.

He retired from Lithium/FMC after 27 years.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

He was a charter member of Kings Mountain Rescue Squad, formed in 1958. He was an EMT and an EMT instructor until 1986. He was a volunteer for the Cleveland County Red Cross.

He was a member of the Cleveland County Seniors Golf Association.

He filmed football games and ran boards at Kings Mountain High School for 48 years. He was a 2001 inductee to the Kings Mountain Sports Hall of Fame.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Sue Baker Dixon, and a sister, Peggy Tinsley.

Burial: Mountain Rest Cemetery.
