Photographer and Jesuit Priest. Best known for his photographs taken on board the RMS Titantic shortly before it sank on April 15, 1912. His passage on the Titanic was from Southampton England to Cork, Ireland on April 10, 1912. He took pictures of life onboard the Titanic, and the last known photographs of many of the passengers and crew to include Captain Edward Smith and Major Archibald W. Butt who was a military aide to Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and William Taft. Upon hearing of the Titantic sinking, Browne, retained his negatives, but sold his photographs to various newspapers which appeared in publications around the world.
