Martha Bearden Conway Freeman, 88, of San Angelo, Texas passed away on the Lord’s Day, Sunday, June 18, 2017 after a long illness. Martha was born to Alton and Ellie Bearden in Waxahachie, Texas on June 2, 1929. She married Byron Conway in Big Spring, Texas on October 7, 1950. Their daughter, Brenda was born November 1953 and by December 1956 another daughter Nancy was born. They were married 25 years until Byron’s death in 1975.

Two years later a friend, Ann Hackett introduced Martha to a preacher named Clyde Freeman who had lost his wife, Billie, to a battle with cancer. Clyde and Martha were happily married October 3, 1977 and spent 39 years loving each other dearly. Martha spent many years as a church secretary for the congregation at 11th & Birdwell church of Christ in Big Spring, Texas. She was a loving and caring woman who spent years teaching so many souls young and old about the Lord Jesus.

Martha left a legacy of teaching others about Jesus, from her family to church members, underprivileged children, and prison inmates through World Bible School lessons, her love for God’s word was so evident.

She was survived by her husband Clyde Freeman of San Angelo, Texas, her daughters, a stepdaughter, a stepson, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by her stepdaughter Jane Freeman, of Dell City, Oklahoma and all of her siblings and parents.

Two services to celebrate Martha’s life, June 20, 2017, at 9th and Main Church of Christ, San Angelo, Texas and a graveside service following at Trinity Memorial Park, Big Spring, Texas.
