Archie Sterling Flohr, 94, a resident of Leland of Laurel Run and former resident of Creager Road, Waynesboro passed from this life on Monday, June 12, 2017.
Archie was born in Deerfield Maryland on July 21, 1922. Archie was the son of the late Bessie Mae (Fox) Flohr Swope and Jesse Flohr. He spent his early years living in various parts of Maryland including Cascade. He received his GED from the Waynesboro Senior High School. He served in the United States Army/Air Corp. during WWII in the European Theater as a Sergeant. After being discharged from the military he worked at Letterkenny Army Depot as a Branch Chief until retiring in 1977. Following his retirement at Letterkenny he worked at the South Mountain Restoration Center in the Food Service Department retiring in 1982.
He was married to the late Phyllis Louise (Misner)on December 7, 1943. He resided on Creager Road for 73 years. Mrs. Flohr passed away on May 17, 2015.
He is survived by two sons; William Flohr of Waynesboro and Jeffrey Flohr and his wife Cathy of Mont Alto; four grandchildren, Amber Parkinson, Travis Flohr, James Flohr, Eric Flohr; a great-grand son, Lucas Parkinson; a sister, Audrey Gearhardt of Quincy Village; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara and son Dennis and 12 brothers and sisters.
Recently he attended the Five Forks Brethren in Christ Church. Earlier in his live he was active in the Blue Rock United Brethren in Christ Church of Tomstown. While he attend there he was a member of the Mixed Couples Sunday School Class, served as Superintendent of the Sunday School Department, and taught a class in the Children’s Department. He was also a member of the Fish and Game Association of Waynesboro.
He enjoyed sharing his life with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grand child. He loved to be with people and loved working outdoors.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 17, 2017, in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro. Burial will follow in Quincy Cemetery, Quincy, PA.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Saturday morning, in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Grane Hospice Care, Inc., 105 Gamma Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15238.
