A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, for Carolyn Hurst, 88, of Columbia, who died Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Asbury Hospice Home in Hattiesburg. Bro. Jerron Carney will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hathorn Funeral Home in Columbia.

As a lifelong resident of Marion County, Carolyn was born in the Hub Community. She was a devoted mother to her three children. She will be remembered for her beautiful quilts. She also loved gardening, especially her daylillies, and her two rescue dogs, Molly and Chi-chi.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Rod & Ada Fortenberry; her Husband, Hardy Ray Hurst; her Daughter, Mary Beth Thurman; two Sisters, Dorothy Cook, Kathryn Robbins; and three Brothers, Bud Fortenberry, Harold Fortenberry, Edgar Fortenberry.

She is survived by her two Sons, Gene Hurst (Robin), Columbia, Pat Hurst, Columbia; 4 Grandchildren; and 2 Great Grandchildren.

Hathorn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
