Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30th, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Hathorn Funeral Home for Mary Beth Thurman, 46, of Columbia, who died Thursday, July 28, at her residence after an extended illness. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, July 29th, at Hathorn Funeral Home. Interment was at Woodlawn Cemetery.
She was a lifelong resident of Columbia, MS, and was born on October 18, 1964, at Marion General Hospital. She was employed for the last 20 years as an LPN at The Grove, where she worked in a number of positions over the years.
She was a dedicated nurse and spent most of her life serving others. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel. She will be greatly missed by both her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Hardy Ray Hurst. Survivors include her mother, Carolyn Hurst, her brothers, Gene and Pat Hurst, and her son-in-law and daughter, Clint and Heather McMurry.
