ALLEN, Lloyd James – 90, of Yarmouth.
Our family is saddened by the passing of a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who succumbed to COPD on March 27th at Tidal View Manor. Born in Forest Glen on July 25, 1918, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Rhoda Allen.

Lloyd was a veteran of the Second World War and lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 143. Lloyd lived most of his married life in Lake George where he worked on his farm and woodland and for some years at the Lake George Fish Hatchery before he and Ora moved to Dayton in 2007. One of the greatest joys of his life came in his later years when he became a grandfather and could spend his time enjoying and mentoring his grandchildren. Grampie’s stories of his experiences were always welcomed by little ones perched on his knees in the old rocking chair.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Ora (Ring), daughters Lynda Mullen of New Minas and Audrey (John) Manzer of Pleasantville; seven grandchildren Aaron (Wanda) Mullen, Tiffany Mullen, Christopher Manzer, Jana (Nick) Saunders, Jeffrey Manzer, Melanie (Jamie) Fahie, Jody Allen, great-granddaughters Kiersten Mullen and Mallory Saunders, brother Donald of Forest Glen, son-in-law Henry Mullen of Annapolis Royal and daughter-in-law Elaine Allen of Cedar Lake. He was predeceased by sons, Glendon in 2004 and twin sons in infancy, sisters Zella, Evelyn, Edna, Eleanor, and brothers Albert, Fred, George, Earl.

By Lloyd’s request there will be no visitation; a graveside service will be held at the Lake George Cemetery Monday March 30th at 1:00pm with Rev A.D. Bill Newell officiating. Following the graveside service, there will be a gathering at the Lake George Fire Hall. Everyone is welcome. Family flowers only. Donations to the Salvation Army in Lloyd’s memory would be appreciated as his way of expressing thanks for the comforts supplied by them to our soldiers overseas, or to the charity of your choice.

Special thanks from the family for the wonderful care Lloyd received at A Wing Tidal View Manor, and also to Shelley and the staff of Treasured Memories Nursing Home for their compassion and assistance over the last six months. Online condolences may be sent to: [email protected] or you may sign the guestbook online at www.sweenysfuneralhome.net. Grampie, when we were little children You were one of the first people we looked up to, And today we still do and always will. Love, the grandkids
