Colonel* Frank Childs Sr was one of thirteen children born to Martina and Tom Childs Jr. Colonel married Elizabeth Lewis, a Native American. Their first baby, Ernest, was born at the Indian Oasis Hospital in Sells, Arizona.
In all they had twelve children, eight sons: Ernest James, Emil, Jerry “Byrd”, Lester, Frank James Jr, Albert, Tom, Ace and four daughters: Augi, Judy, Darlene and Dora.
Frank worked as a laborer on his father's cattle operations.

Colonel Frank Childs Sr died in August, 1968. Elizabeth Lewis Childs passed away in January 1981. They were buried at the Childs Cemetery on the Ten Mile Ranch.
