Juanita was born on June 24, 1919 to Tom and Martina "Martha" Childs Jr. Juanita was born in Rowood, Arizona. Rowood has been a ghost town since 1960, but back then it was a rival community to Ajo. Her father was the son of an early Ajo rancher and miner, Tom Childs Sr. At the time of Juanita's birth Tom Childs Jr was a meat merchant in Rowwod, selling beef grown on one of the Childs holdings. Her mother was a Sand Papago (Hia Ced) Native American.

In time Juanita grew up and married Manuel Jones. Manuel was a Pima Indian from Sacaton, Arizona. They had a son "Roland Childs" on March 12, 1938. The baby was born in the Indian Oasis Hospital in Sells, Arizona. The 1940 census finds Juanita divorced with a two year old son "Gregory" [same as Roland]. Juanita along with twenty other relatives was living at her parents' ranch north of Ajo. Within three years Juanita had married again. Her second husband was Alex Bailey, a resident of Rowood. At least three of their children are buried in the Childs family cemetery: Stanley, Eleanor and Junior Edward Bailey.

Juanita Bailey died on April 2, 1998 and was laid to rest at the Childs Cemetery.
