"Samuel B. French, a well-known citizen of this town [Glover], died Friday at the home of his sister in St. Johnsbury after a very brief illness. Mr. French was born in Glover August 2d, 1840, being the son of Orrin French and Charlotte Bean French, both of Glover. He was a life-long resident of the place, and was widely known as a local boot and shoe dealer and repairer, he was a Grand Army man, being a member of Mason Post. About 1883 he married Mrs. Elizabeth Scott, whom he survived only two months, she having died last March. The only immediate relatives of Mr. French now living are three sisters: Mrs. Charlotte Felch and Harriet and Lucy French of St. Johnsbury, also one brother: Nathan B. French of East Weymouth, Mass."
