KRESS - Funeral services for Emmet Pittman, 85, were at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church in Plainview, officiating.
Burial was in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mr. Pittman died at 7:55 p.m. Saturday, June 24, 2000, in Prairie House Living Center.
He was born Aug. 17, 1914, in Gray, Okla., where he grew up. He graduated from Perryton High School, attended Panhandle A&M and graduated from Texas Tech. He lived in Tarzan and Stanton before moving to Kress. He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kress, serving as a deacon and treasurer, and a member of First Baptist Church in Plainview.
He served on the board of directors at Kress National Bank for many years and was active in Kress 4-H.
During World War II, he was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy.
On July 4, 1941, he married Fannie Ada Lucy.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter-in-law, Debra Pittman of Plainview; three brothers, Erliss Pittman of Spearman, Wayman Pittman of Washington and Leonard Pittman of Arkansas; a sister, Ethel Seago of Stillwater, Okla.; and two grandsons, Travis and Trey Pittman of Plainview.
Two sons, Virgil Pittman and Larry Pittman, are deceased.
