Ann P. Shields was born October 27, 1931 in Queens, New York to John Riordan and Ann Kistner Riordan. She left this life on May 3, 2017.

Ann received many blessings in her life. She and Francis J. Shields were married October 11, 1952 at Holy Name of Mary Church in Valley Stream, NY, where loving families reared them. They celebrated 60 years together and raised 10 children in Rockville Center, NY and Stevens Point, WI where they moved their family to in 1964.

Ann and Frank also welcomed 7 special needs children into their home, which was licensed through Wisconsin as a foster treatment home, and adopted Jerome at age 4. Ann loved being a mother and she readily attended to the many needs of her large family, including attending every band concert and parent/teacher conference.

Ann was thankful for her many mentors, including her close friend Ann Dobeck, who taught her so much, the Maslowski sisters and others who provided pastoral guidance. She enjoyed being a service to others, and contributed her time as a crisis-line listener, a CCD teacher, a lector, minister of Communion and member of the Rosary Society at St. Casimir’s Church, a volunteer for the Retired Senior Program, and a hospice patient visitor for six years.

Ann was grateful for her many life experiences; she was a woman of deep faith and was always up to a challenge. She was a writer, a wit and enjoyed laughter with many. Ann enjoyed creative pursuits and time walking in nature. She and Frank retired in 1990 and traveled the United States, as well as many other countries.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2013, and her children baby Ann and son Philip.

Ann leaves her loving children Bradley (Ellen) Shields of Menomonie Falls, Thomas (Vilma) Shields of Murrieta, California, Lynne (Steve) Snyder of Bloomington, Indiana, Denise (Thomas) Shields-Kvasnicka of Brookfield, WI, Frank Jr. (Tammy) Shields of Stevens Point, Ann Dudzik of Stevens Point, Geraldine (Rodger) Butler of Stevens Point and Erica Shields of Plover. Twenty one grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday May 11, 2017 at St. Casimir Catholic Church. Rev. Arul Joseph Visuvasam officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Casimir Parish Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Pisarski Funeral Home of Stevens Point, and from 9:30 A.M Thursday morning at St. Casimir Church until the time for mass.
