Frieda Martinsen
Funeral services were held for Frieda Martinsen, 99, at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. W. Willis Longer officiated at the services.
Frieda Martinsen of Monticello died Dec. 9 at the Senior Home, Monticello, following an extended illness.
Frieda Decker was born Oct. 15,1889 in Germany, the daughter of Chris and Marie
Reuter Decker. She immigrated to the United States when only five years old.
Frieda Decker and Jess Martinsen were married in 1910. The couple farmed the Richland Township and Hardscrabble area for several years. Jess died in 1935 and in 1940 she moved to Monticello.
Frieda was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Pythian Sisters and various card clubs. She is survived by two sons, Larry of Monticello, Rex of Delhi and a daughter, Elda Meeks of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Casketbearers were Kent Martinsen, Larry Lee Martinsen, Terry Meeks, Tom Saunders, Mike Martinsen. Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, was in charge of the
arrangements.
