A native and resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 79. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., 8:30 a.m. Saturday until religious services at 10:30 a.m. in Greenoaks Funeral Chapel, conducted by Father Alec Sheldon. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn and Ronald Steigerwalt, Omaha, Neb.; Claudia Hawkins, Baton Rouge, and Joan Evans, Greenwell Springs; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Paul and Sheryl Evans, Silverdale, Wash., Richard and Bonny Evans, Watson, Jeffrey Evans, Baker, and John Evans, Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Ureline Summers, Greenwell Springs; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick A. Evans; four sons, Frederick Jr., Stephen, Claude and Michael Evans; and a daughter, Linda Thurman. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons. She will be missed by her family and extended family, who love her. She touched many lives with her loving arms, tender heart and beautiful smile. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association of Baton Rouge.
