Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017, at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 30, 2017, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Imogene Ann Borton was born on December 24, 1936 in Marshalltown, Iowa; she was the daughter of Clarence Archie and Bertha (Bumbarger) Borton. She attended school in the Marshalltown Community School District. On June 12, 1954, Imogene was united in marriage to Harold Brown at the First Congregational Church in Marshalltown. They had lived their entire married lives in Marshalltown. She would babysit over the years, and also helped people at home and in nursing homes. She had been a member of the Eagles Lodge and helped with Home League at the Salvation Army. Imogene and Harold enjoyed dancing and she would travel with Harold to nursing homes to play music and they enjoyed going to the Beaman jam sessions. Imogene always enjoyed playing bingo.
Left to cherish her memory is her children: Keith (Amelda Miller) Clapsaddle, Harold (Jana) Brown, Jr., Russell Candi-Hay- Brown and Lisa (Mike) Stackhouse-Vajgert; grandchildren: Karen Rockne, Amy Zeman, Daniel Clapsaddle, Dustin Brown, Heather Dostal, Rusty Brown, Nick Brown, Gina Frost, Carter Brown, Jeannie Stackhouse, Samantha Regalado and Kevin Stackhouse; great-grandchildren: Scott Rockne, Breanna Rockne, Joe Stanton, Jersey Zeman, Jasper Zeman, Jozie Brown, Julia Brown, Jayce Dostal, Karley Frost, Alivia Frost, Jordan Rhodes, Trinity Salyers, Nora Stackhouse, Briget Stackhouse, Skyler Stackhouse and Jacob Brown, Lincoln Brown, and one baby on the way; and special friend John Whitehead and several nieces and nephews.
In death Imogene rejoins her parents, Clarence and Bertha; husband Harold; daughter Glendora; grandson Curtis Stackhouse and Randi Jo Vagjert; great-grandson Kevin Edward and one son-in-law, Chris Stackhouse; siblings, Viola Brown, Helen Harvey and Floyd Borton.
