Viola (Mrs. Ben) Brown, 54, of Marshalltown died Saturday morning, September 28, 1985, at the Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center.

Services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pursel-Davis chapel with Mrs. Major Elden Rowland officiating. Burial will be in Bangor Friends Cemetery.

She was born January 4, 1931 in Marshall County to Archie and Bertha (Bumbarger) Borton. She was reared and educated in the Bangor and Marshalltown areas, and attended Marshalltown High School.

She was married to Robert D. Clapsaddle February 14, 1948 in Marshalltown. They divorced in 1962. On April 18, 1964 she married Benjamin F. Brown in Chicago, Illinois. Mrs. Brown lived most of her life in the Marshalltown area, where she worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge ad the Salvation Army.

Preceding her in death were her father and one son.

Surviving are her husband, Ben Brown; her mother, Bertha Borton of Marshalltown; five sons: Robert R. Clapsaddle, Keith Clapsaddle, Ben Brown Jr, Dennis Brown, and Marion Brown all of Marshalltown; three daughters: Kathy Leonard, Darlene Brown, and Debra Brown all of Marshalltown; and eight grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Frank Borton and Floyd Borton of Marshalltown; and three sisters: Helen Harvey of Des Moines, Imogene Brown of Marshalltown, and Iona Brown of Hudson.
