Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Gross, mother of Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Hubert Vining of Whitefish, were held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 in Kalispell at the Waggener & Campbell Chapel with the Rev. Russell from the Presbyterian Church, officiating. During the service A.S. Rodger sang two solo selections accompanied at the organ by Miss Louise Hanzer. Friends acting as pall bearers were Sam Agnovie Edgar Martin, Leon Phillips, Charles Krass, Jake Krass and Morris Davis. Interment was in the Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Members of the Lady Owls attended the service. Carrie will be missed and loved by many members of the community.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman 1935, son Walter 1910, of Orient, South Dakota, daughter Lillian Monroe of Redfield, South Dakota.

Gross and wife Elizabeth of Kalispell, Montana; Emma and Walter of Whitefish, Montana; Irene and John Nelson of St. Paul, Minn.; Harry John Gross Sr. and wife Hazel of Kalispell, Montana; Helen and Robert Vining of Whitefish, Montana; Rose and William Smith of Whitefish, Montana; Margaret and Jess Wright of Portland, Oregon; Ben Gross of Deer Lodge, Montana; Frank Gross and wife Josephine of Valier, Montana; and William Gross and wife Clara of Olympia, Washington.

Carrie Gross born Mar 20, 1854 in Marieubury Co. Marieunerda Prussia. Her mother Marie (Johana Christine Mary Bamberg) remained in the homeland. Carrie came to the United States in 1882, settling in Decatur Illinois where she married Herman Gross in July 3 1884.
Carrie and Herman moved to South Dakota where they had 12 children. This is also where her father lived and homesteaded. They later moved to Kalispell, Montana where she lived 27 years.
Carrie taught herself to read and write and loved to read the Kalispell newspaper. She raised her children and helped with farm work.
