Ethel Hanes, 56, of Eureka, died Wednesday morning in a local hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born February 8, 1904, in Minden, La., moving to Eureka where she resided except for the time from 1941 to 1954.

She is survived by her husband, Floyd Hanes of Eureka; son, Charles Davidson and a daughter, Mrs. Sue Campbell, both of Eureka; brothers, V. K. Britt of Kentfield, Frank, Milton James and W. H. Britt, all of Eureka; sisters, Mrs. Cristell Hanson of Eureka, Mrs. Ruth Dennis of San Rafael and Mrs. Frances Giuntoli of Eureka; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. from the Cooper Mortuary Chapel of the Ferns with the Rev. Paul Mangum officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
