Louvina Corrina Coleman was born March 10, 1866 in Pike County, KY. Her father was Miles Coleman (1843-1917) and her mother Amanda Jane Childers (Childress sometimes spelled) (1842-1878).
Louvina married Henry Ratliff (Moore) (1864-1938) July 24, 1884 in Letcher, KY. They had at least 17 Children. 11 daughters and 6 sons.
When Louvina was 14, the family lived at Marrowbone Creek, Pike County, KY. The census show she had three sisters & seven brothers.
1920 Louvinas and Henry's family live at Coal River Precinct, Pike County, KY. Seven of the children still live with them. Our grandmother Verda Ratliff Jones is one of the daughters living there. She is a school teacher.
In 1930 the small family moved to Greentown, Scioto, Ohio. Henry continued to farm and Louvina to keep house.
She died December 21, 1947 from cardiac failure at the age of 81 years. She is buried at Damron Cemetery, Harold, Floyd County, KY. Her husband Henry, her daughters Verda, Molly & Mary E. and son Evered are interred beside her.
The section of the cemetery where they are goes quite unnoticed. It's almost set off by itself beyond a fence line. The cemetery is kept in good care. But they may not be easy to find. My sister and I try to make at least one visit per year ( we live out of state) to pay respects from all of us to our grandparents.
