Harold married Ruth Law in 1949 and they had six children: Bonita (Bonnie) Brickley McGown Blackman, Mary Clare Brickley Mickle Herrington, Robert Harold (Bobby) Brickley, Martha Ann (Bootsie) Brickley Richardson Baker, Eric Henry Brickley, and Bridget Ruth Brickley Canady. Harold was a member of the Merchant Marine and US Navy during WW II and was a Staff Sergeant with the US Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Purple Heart and decorated for bravery in combat. He was also awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge.
